FAQs

What does the acronym “SARID” mean?

San Antonio Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. We are a local chapter of the Texas Society of Interpreters for the Deaf (TSID).

What is SARID?

We are a non-profit organization that provides various means of professional development to the regional interpreters and future interpreters. Our Mission Statement, Constitution, and By-Laws will provide details.

Who can become members and what are the fees?

We welcome everyone’s support. We have four levels of membership ranging from $8.00 - $15.00 per year. Please check out our membership form for details.

Who can attend meetings?

We welcome everyone including members, non-members, certified or non-certified interpreters, future interpreters, and those from the Deaf Community. All who attend may participate in discussions; however,  only certain membership levels may participate in the voting process. Meetings will be interpreted as needed. Please visit our meeting page for the meeting minutes and dates.

Do you provide interpreting workshops?

Yes, on average of 2-3 workshops per year. In addition to those workshops, during the year of 2009-2010 we are hosting the TSID 2010 Conference in San Antonio which will hold numerous workshops. Keep checking with us for more details.
